Online Course Design

Online Course Design is a ten-week online course, facilitated by experienced Education Development Center online instructors, that prepares educators to design online or blended courses for K-12 students. The course, focused on online instructional design, pedagogy and techniques, includes online readings, web-based activities, facilitated online discussions, and experience using development tools in the course management system. Participants are engaged in an online course, while working in teams to develop their own, with ongoing feedback and support from the instructor who is trained and experienced in effective online curriculum development.

Online Instructor Training

Teaching Students in Online Courses is a seven-week online course, facilitated by experienced Education Development Center online instructors. This course prepares educators to teach in online classroom environments. Participants will learn effective strategies for managing and teaching students in online environments and explore the ways online learning can effectively support standards-based teaching and learning in all subject areas. Participants will learn techniques to foster student collaboration in an online learning community through online discussion and group projects. In addition, participants will learn to meet the learning needs of all students by selecting and using a variety of teaching strategies that aid in personalizing learning for students. During this course, participants will learn about and practice using tools to teach critical thinking skills and explore student academic integrity issues and the safe and legal use of online resources. Course content includes online readings, web-based and multimedia activities, and facilitated online discussions.
